Southfield, City of (MI) is Hiring a Human Resources Analyst I Near Southfield, MI

  • Perform a wide variety of assignments that may be confidential in nature, requiring research to complete.
  • Perform duties in the HR Department for Benefits/Attendance/Retirement team member.
  • Update NEOGOV and BS&A databases, as necessary.
  • Create/process Personal Employee Action Forms.
  • Composing, editing, and revising letters, reports, and other materials.
  • Prepare documents related to new hire, active employees and retiree change requests.
  • Process and document various benefit actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding general benefits/retirement/recruitment questions.
  • Receive, review, and process reports of on-duty employee injuries, coordinate worker’s compensation claims, authorize treatment of the employee by medical care providers; review and process medical bills.
  • Daily record keeping, including reports, forms, statistics, letters, and other documentation to be maintained in files and records.
  • Performs a wide variety of assignments that are confidential nature involving labor/employee relations, personal/protected information, medical confidential information for claims and lawsuits. 
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing, including enrollments, terminations, and claims.
  • Advise and inform employees of the details of the City’s benefit/recruitment programs.
  • Resolve benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Requires research, analytical, and computational skills to effectively monitor claims and losses.
  • Significant problem solving and organizational skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate diverse requests and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information related to employee relations/medical/claims/lawsuits.
Experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations/Administrative programs
